Kanyaw Durian in Davao

under Food Trip | 160 views

We just discovered and tasted this Kanyaw Durian variety more than a week ago. We usually ask our suki which variety they would recommend that taste sweet and delicious. They suggested Kanyaw that time which they said is a variety from Malaysia. It tasted really sweet and delicious which in my opinion is good for those who would be eating durian for the very first time. They sell it for P40/kilo. This one below costs about P90 for about 2 1/4 kilos.

It isn’t that bitter in taste in fact I love the taste of it similar to the Chanee durian variety. Try eating it fresh which I like most since you can really appreciate the flavor. I think it taste a little different once you have frozen the durian.

Kanyaw durian, Thailand’s best variety, is a light bearer with a thick fleshed, tasty fruit having less of the objectionable odor.”

Control

under Etc., Events, Food Trip | 135 views

I was able to buy fresh durian after hearing mass tonight. There is an abundant supply of it anywhere in the city these days and they are just so tempting to buy and eat. While eating it though wanting more and more I am reminded that I have to control eating this high in carbohydrates fruit if I want to live longer according to some people and friends. I heard a lot of people before who had been rushed to the hospital after eating this delicious fruit. We can still enjoy eating this fruit if we know our limits ~ health-wise that is.

Margie’s Bakeshop Davao Sans Rival Mini-cake

under Etc., Food Trip | 327 views

I was supposed to let hubby look for an elliptical trainer at the mall’s sports center but finding none, he decided to buy the second thing that he knew I wanted that day ~ Margie’s Bakeshop Davao Sans Rival cake. This is their mini cake version that costs P110.00. This is delicious yet quite too sweet though but I definitely love this! I was able to consume most of this by myself but not at one sitting though otherwise I might need that trainer now more than ever!

Made of layers of meringue sandwiching chopped nuts and buttercream, and frosted with more buttercream, Margie’s Sans Rival is deceptively (and dangerously) light and airy. Margie’s version incorporates lots of toasted cashews and buttercream that’s little more than butter and plain sugar – so buttery, in fact, that it melts if the cake is left out too long. It’s as much nuts as meringue and shows a brilliant balance of saltiness to sweet.
