Clawdaddy’s Great American Picnic Now in Davao at SM Lanang Premier
Clawdaddy’s Great American Picnic is now open in Davao at SM Lanang Premier.
It is known for their seafood and crab speciality. It is great to hear a new restaurant specializing in seafood and crab opening in Davao City.
Clawdaddy offers more than great food, it provides an opportunity to bond with the people close to your heart over bibs, buckets of shells and most importantly an unforgettable cuisine that offers the best that the sea has to offer.
Raymund Magdaluyo, managing partner of the Red Crab Group (also principal owner of SumoSam) with his Davao partner Paul Garcia (who we knew and met way back during our FPS days a few years ago) and Mr. Murray Hertz are the owners of ClawDaddy’s.

They also own the other resto named Murray’s New Orleans which shares the same kitchen with ClawDaddy’s. Chef Peter Ayson who is their Executive Chef is here for a few days for the launch and blessing of ClawDaddy’s and New Orleans. There are five chefs and five staff from Manila who are serving as part of the opening team of the resto.
Their 7th restaurant in the country, ClawDaddy’s at SMLA offers seafood cuisine as well as top quality steaks, delectable ribs and generous offerings of tasty appetizers, soups and crisp salads. Last October 22 was the blessing (as well as of New Orleans) and launching of ClawDaddy’s.

We enjoyed a feast of their specialty dishes for the lunch served for the guests, media and bloggers after the blessing. We started off with the Nacho Ordinary Nacho… tricolor corn chips with Jalapeno, Malagos cream cheese and guacamole verde. This has got to be eaten while the nachos ares still crisp. I am glad they are using Malagos cream cheese. Something a foodie from Davao will love and be proud of.
Cajun Shrimp and Pomelo Salad… Seared bacon wrapped shrimp, mesclun greens, herbed croutons, organic tomatoes, passion fruit and pomelo vinaigrette. For those looking for healthy, green salad, well this one is for us! And since I love shrimp, I loved the delicious taste of the Cajun shrimp as I took it in one bite. You got to try this salad and I hope it will be as good as we had tasted it.
Fisherman’s Chowder… fresh local clams, potatoes and leeks, hearty soup with Malagos blue cheese and crackers. Indeed this is a hearty and creamy chowder I enjoyed topped with two pieces of crunchy crackers. I honestly love the taste of it and I could go for another serving.
Grilled Oysters… char grilled freshly shucked oysters with citrus brown butter. It was good and hubby loved it! My good friend who truly loved oysters also agreed this one tasted so good when she got to try it during a food trip we had after this event.
Seafood Skewers… marinated tuna and malasugi kebabs with char grilled lemon herbed vegetables and sunville rice pilaf. This dish is still to become part of their menu and was specially served only for the launching event. I loved this dish and the delicious taste of the fresh fish that they used. Of course this is Davao… known for our abundant supply of seafood particularly fish. I will definitely recommend this to my family and friends who love seafood especially fish. I hope though it becomes a regular part of their menu soon.
ClawDaddy’s Fish Fry… fried calamari, cornmeal crusted fried clams, blackened red fish and shrimp popcorn. Served with tartar sauce, malt vinegar and cocktail sauce.
Baby Back Ribs… char grilled baby back ribs, honey and molasses BBQ sauce, cabbage slaw and dirty Jambalaya rice. This dish is a personal fave for me and my boys. I think this full slab can be good for 4-6 persons depending on each one’s appetite of course. I love it because this one was really juicy and the meat was really soft and tender.
The Boiling Bag… mixed clams, shrimps, crabs in ClawDaddy mixed seasoning served with new potatoes, corn, and soaker bread. They have choices for the boiling bag – Seafood, All Shrimp, Shellfish, Maryland Crab, Louisiana Crab and Shrimp.
Catch of the Day… char grilled mixed clams, lemon butter and soaker bread. These had more taste than those in the bag. The one with darker shell was a hit in our table.
Crab of the Day… Singaporean shelter crab that has chili sauce. Who loves crabs? Now this is the only time I love crabs when they are cooked as delicious as they can be when eaten! It’s spicy with the chili sauce used. ClawDaddy won’t be what they are if they don’t have crabs. They have many suppliers in Davao and in the region so that they will always have a ready supply of crabs for their customers to feast on when they dine at ClawDaddy. It was kind of fun wearing the large red bib they provide when you order and eat crabs.
For dessert we had Tablea and Coffee Bread Pudding… local dark chocolate and grown coffee bread pudding with white chocolate cream cheese frosting. I loved the crust of on top of this pudding.
Davao’s Four Seasons… it is a special drink made with Durian, Marang, Mango, and Pomelo with a bit of cocktail. It’s delicious and it’s something a Davaoeno must try. It’s a unique drink as unique as the angle of this shot. *wink* Seriously, it is something local tourists and friends visiting the city could try to taste these four known fruits to Davao in what Raymund call as Davao style four seasons drink that ClawDaddy’s has concocted especially for Davao.

When we were in Manila last month for vacation and some foodtripping, we decided to try this resto not in Manila but wait until it opened right here in Davao City. When it had their soft opening last October 5, we did not know about it until we saw it was already open after the SumoSam event two days after. We then had dinner there with the boys to try their food for the first time. It was a good dinner hence we went came back two more times for dinner. My little boy loves their Baked SPaghetti and so do I. If you have kids with you when you dine, you can try that for them. It’s kind of sweet and we love the melted cheese on top. *wink* Thanks ClawDaddy’s Davao for this feast! We look forward to more visits to your resto.
