Kangaroo Coffee Company
Kangaroo Coffee Company had its soft opening in Davao City, Philippines last April 17, 2008. They had an exclusive soft opening last April 14. It will have its official opening on May 10, 2008. So the food trippers can’t wait that long and we headed there tonight. It is located at Tionko Avenue corner V. Mapa Street, Davao City (near Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas and it is just in front of Sunburst Fried Chicken).
There were not many people inside unlike yesterday. We went straight to the counter and looked at what they have in their menu. We noticed that the price is not that high as we thought they would be. It is self service in this coffee shop. You pay as you order and they will get your name and call you to pick up your order at the counter yourself. Well it has been awhile coz I got used to being served at our table in other coffee shops. We didn’t wait that long which is good for a first time.
The waiters gave us a good service and the waiter Lester who took our order and attended to us was very kind enough to answer our questions. He looks familiar though and I think I’ve seen him somewhere before. Funny thing is Lester thought we were from Yellow Hauz, a coffee shop nearby located at V. Mapa Street, when we asked if we can take photos. Hahaha he mistook us as competition oh no because he explained that my partner was wearing a yellow shirt! My why would they think of that? We are just regular customers particularly coffee lovers who happen to be bloggers and food trippers out on a food trip as it is a new coffee shop in town we would want to check out. When we asked Lester why it was named Kangaroo, he was not that clear. But he did mention though that this is owned by a corporation and the son of one of the owners works for Starbucks in UK. Which made me remember that when we were at Starbucks Cebu, they did not want us to take photos inside the coffee shop. Anyway, I think the name has something to do with Australia coz the menu used the term “mate” which is commonly used in the Land Down Under – Australia.

I ordered White Chocolate Mocha (left, P85) which I really liked and it tasted just as I wanted it to be. It is delicious. He ordered Tsokolatte (right, P87) which is not really my fave (sorry!) though it reminds me of the hot chocolate my mom makes at home using pure tablea of Kablon Farms which my sister buys at NCCC Mall.
Well he liked it. Though the nice thing about it is that they put a creative design on top of it. I’ve seen it before but this one reminds me of a friendly ghost hahaha!!! Can you tell me?
Well, did you see Casper the Friendly Ghost in the Tsokolatte?
Their Belgian Chocolate Mousse (P90) is delicious and not that expensive! He equally liked it too!
The place is really nice, clean and cozy. They have magazines, newspapers and books that you can read while enjoying your coffee and tea. They still do not have mugs for sale which I hope I can get to add to my Starbucks mug collection. Most of their collaterals are still coming. You can bring your laptops/notebooks there because they are free Wi-Fi hotspot.
And this we find unique! Wondering who owns these eye glasses.

[...] Kangaroo Coffee Company, a new coffee shop in Davao City, Philippines. We found this new coffee shop here in Davao City as we were going home last night and we passed by then we had to ask the taxi driver to bring us back to its location in Tionko Avenue corner V. Mapa Street here in Davao City as we instantly decided to check out this place. It is just in front of Sunburst Chicken. When we got there we saw the sign that they have a soft opening and we saw that most people inside must have been there through invitation. We somehow shied away and thinking also that it was already kind of late at night then and maybe we can just come back next time when we got more time. So hubby just took photos of the place from outside and here they are. [...]
